AP106 - 120 bore Webley type wedge frame percussion revolver
A 120 bore Webley type wedge frame percussion revolver NVN. Trigger cocking (aka double action) six shot Webley “wedge-frame” type with top strap. Under-barrel loading lever, as per Colt. Side spring safety: it just engages the hammer nose but when the hammer is cocked, the spring releases allowing the hammer to fall onto the cap; it also allows all six chambers to be loaded without the hammer nose in danger of pressing on a cap – unlike Colts. Probably spurious British proof marks, most likely Belgian, c1850-60’s. The wedge frame was a means of avoiding Adams solid frame patent protection but retain the appearance of a solid frame revolver. No cylinder slop when in battery. Old staining overall Phil Wikeley
